Niles Main Street District Merchant, Employee & Resident Parking

Preserving On-Street Parking for Downtown Customers

On-street parking is essential not only for convenience but for supporting local businesses, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the community’s image.

As a Downtown business owner, you're a key part of the Niles community. Your contributions are deeply valued.

Parking plays a major role in shaping the first impression for visitors to Downtown. Convenient, affordable parking signals hospitality—and thankfully, our area offers plenty of complimentary parking.

However, when prime parking spots are occupied for long periods by employees or residents instead of customers, it detracts from that welcoming environment.

As we work together to revitalize our Downtown, we ask that you help ensure parking spaces are available for customers during key business hours.

Key Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
On-street parking on Main Street, as well as one block north to Sycamore and one block south to Cedar, should be preserved for customer use during these times.

The Downtown Parking Map below highlights:

  • Green spaces: All-day, employee/resident parking

  • Red spaces: Best for customer parking

All-day parking is conveniently located within 750 feet of every business in the district.

We need your partnership in preserving these spaces for customers. On-street parking is a limited resource, and fair allocation is essential to ensure it's used by those supporting our local economy.

If you have tenants—commercial or residential—please share this information with them.

Should voluntary compliance become an issue, we may need to implement signage and enforce time restrictions for street parking within the district.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me or any DDA Board member.

Thank you for your cooperation!
