Hunter Ice Cream ‘every bite, a delight’ Along with harvesting ice from Barron Lake, the Hunter Company also made Ice Cream. Hunter Ice Cream was noted for its purity and in 1914 the company could produce 400-500 gallons per day, any flavor, and the ice cream could be molded into various shapes.

This year, Zingerman’s Creamry of Ann Arbor, MI will be making our Hunter Ice Cream especially for this festival using an ice cream formula, circa 1900, from obtained from Penn State University. $1 per scoop or $10 for pre-packaged Quarts during the festival.  The Ice Ice Cream booth is located on the 100 block on South Side of Main Street.  Pre-order your quarts in advance for $8 each by dropping off or mailing a check to Niles Main Street/210 E Main Street, Niles MI 49120 or via PayPal at http://uncoverniles.com/donate/  Scroll down to the bottom to contribute a different amount and make note on the order that it is for Ice Cream :) Ice Cream Booth will be open on Monday January 20, 2014 at 11am!

Olfactory Hue 226 E Main Thursday January 16th To kick off the weekend, Celebrate the Hunter Family & Niles Hunter Ice Festival through food and a delicious dining experience!! Chef Daysha Amster has tailored a menu to celebrate the Hunter’s native cuisine right here at Olfactory Hue Bistro!! Niles Service League Pancake Breakfast at the Bell Building 305 N 3rd/Corner of 4th & Sycamore Saturday, January 18, 2014 8M – 12:00PM The Ladies of the League are having a Pancake Breakfast during the Hunter Ice Festival in downtown Niles. The cost is $5.00 . It will be held at the Bell Building on the corner of Third and Sycamore. Each member has tickets to sell. Come enjoy a short stack for a tall cause!! Pancakes, Waffles, Sausage, Juice, Coffee, & Hot Chocolate.

Wesley United Methodist Church Book and Bake Sale 302 Cedar Street: You can buy hardback books and paper back books in a variety of subjects along with cookbooks and puzzles. We will also feature sweet treats made by our “church ladies” for sale.

Chemical Bank 407 E Main Street will be open as a warming station with free hot chocolate, coffee and cookies to everyone. Dream Coach Carriage will provide free sleigh rides to the first 75 people to pick up a coupon at one of their Niles branches: 407 Main St branch or 1835 S. 11th St. Coupons will be given out on a first come, first serve  basis and you will need to have a coupon for the free sleigh ride. Pregnancy Care Center of Niles 4th Annual BabyCakes Cupcake Contest/Fundraiser 404 E Main Street: Bake Space is limited to 30 bakers, register early for a price of only $5 per  flavor. There are three categories: Adult, Youth, and Professional. Awards will be given for best tasting and best decorated. Come and taste over 30 different kinds of cupcakes. Just a $5 donation gets you a choice of up to 3 cupcakes. A $15 donation gets you a bakers dozen (13)! Come and cast your voice for the “People’s Choice” award. We hope to see you there! Four Flags Players production of “Onstage for Murder” will mark the 5th Annual Hunter Ice Festival Murder   Mystery Dinner Theatre, and will be performed on Saturday, January 18th 2014 at 7pm. The performance will take place at the Bell Building at 305 Sycamore St, Niles MI 49120.

The evening will consist of the performance and a three – course dinner provided by Prime Table restaurant. Tickets are available for $35 per person, and can be ordered on-line at http://www.shop.nilesffp.org/

Saturday, January 18thfrom noon-5pm, The Music Academies will have ongoing performances by the teaching staff, including the professional piano/violin duet “Style”. AND Prodigio Strings will officially open as Michiana’s only dedicated orchestral strings shop in Niles! 115 N 3rd Street.

The Bring It Supercar Club is having their legendary Gearhead Lunch on Saturday January 18th from noon on at 109 N 3rd St-2nd floor of the Greater Michiana Healing Arts Center. Sloppy Joes & Hot Chocolate for all, and whatever else our devoted members and fans bring to share. We’ll be giving tours and hanging out all weekend long for those who are attending the Hunter Ice Festival. There will be a Jazzercise Demo at the club led by Beverly Manuel / Niles Jazzercise on 11-2pm Saturday and noon -3 on Sunday.

All weekend long Brew Ha Ha Cafe will be making hot ice cream floats! Lattes, Chai Tea and Hot Chocolate, all with ice cream on top. Brain freeze and warmth all rolled into a fantastic drink. Your taste buds will love you! They’ll be open late Friday and Saturday and open on Sunday as well. Look for Brew Ha Ha Cafe’s ice sculpture. Take your picture beside it, post it on Facebook, show it to us during the festival and get a discount on your drinks during the festival! 920 Broadway.

Hunter Ice Festival Amateur Photo Contest cosponsored by Leader Publications and Niles DDA Main Street Prizes for First $100, Second $75 and Third $50. Take pictures during the Ice Festival and submit them to Leader Publications on-line site, where they will be added to a display and judged. We encourage you to submit sculpture photos, action shots and views of people enjoying the festival. All photos submitted become the property of the Hunter Ice Festival and Niles DDA Main Street and may be used for promotional purposes, so make sure you keep a copy!

Photos must be submitted electronically.   No submissions will be accepted after January 31, 2014. Only photos from the current Hunter Ice Festival will be accepted for judging. Winners will be notified in February.
